Curriculum and Instructional Standards

St. Peter's Catholic School offers a challenging, well-rounded curriculum, providing students with a solid foundation in all elementary subjects.

This subject matter includes religion, family life, mathematics, language arts, social studies, science, health, art, music, and physical education. Our course of study is enhanced by the use of computer technology, regular visits to school library, participation in study trips, cultural arts activities and curriculum fairs.  Students are instructed in conversational Spanish beginning in the fifth grade.

Family Life education at St. Peter's Catholic School is a joint effort between parents and teachers to prepare our children to live safe, informed, Christian lives in society. Four general subject areas are taught:  self-esteem and assertiveness; personal safety; the human body, its parts, functions, and care pertaining to reproduction and its place in God's plan of creation; substance abuse prevention (drugs, alcohol, tobacco and food). Beginning in kindergarten, the program progresses according to age readiness and social need. Catholic moral values are presented as guidelines for life.  Materials are provided for the parent component.

The instructional guide for Project DARE has been developed to assist police officers, school administrators, and teachers in planning and implementation of a program of drug abuse resistance education for grades 5 and 8.

Our curriculum is available for your personal inspection.  We would welcome an opportunity to show you our facility and program.

WASC Accreditation

St. Peter's Catholic School participates in a continual self-evaluation and accreditation process required by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. An outside review committee visits the school and makes both recommendations and commendations pertaining to the school's program.  The school then formulates a plan of action to update and accomplish the committee's recommendations. Both the evaluation and subsequent updating of the recommendations are submitted to the Diocesan Office for review.

Academic and Cultural Competitions

St. Peter's Catholic School participates in many academic and cultural competitions. Among these are the National Geography Bee, local and national spelling bees, Daughters of the American Revolution Annual Essay Contest, Math Field Day at local parochial high schools, Fallbrook High School's Annual Youth Fair Art Exhibit, and San Diego Museum of Art's Annual Young Art Exhibit.
