May 8, 2008

Dear St. Peter’s Catholic School Families:

Question of the Week: This week’s question is from Sunday’s Gospel reading of Matthew 28:16-20;        What strong points do I bring to the task of bearing witness to Jesus? Take time to share your response to the question with your family, friends, and small faith community and at church/school committee meetings this week.

Catch of the Week: Congratulations to Edson Lizarraga, 2nd grade, for helping in the classroom, and to Harbin Dilley, 1st grade, for running an errand for a teacher. Thank you for setting a good example to the other students!

Living Rosary: Please join us at morning assembly on Thursday, May 15, 2008 to pray the “Living Rosary” in honor of our Blessed Mother Mary.

8th Grade Graduation Pictures: Proofs & order envelopes were sent home with your child on Monday, May 5th.  Please bring your order and check (made payable to Ahrend Studios) to the office by Friday, May 9th.  You can still place an order after May 9th by taking it directly to Ahrend Studios, phone # 760-728-7613.

Field Day: We are looking for parent volunteers to help with Field Day.  This year’s event will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008.  Interested in helping?  Please e-mail Miss Jones at missfjones@gmail.com.  Thank you for looking forward to a day filled with fun, friendship, and school-wide community celebration.

Family Movie Night: Our final PTG meeting of the year will be combined with our spring Family Movie Night.  Before the movie begins at sunset there will be an open house for families to visit the classrooms and a short report of school and PTG business.  We will have pizza meals available for $3.00 per person.  Please submit order form by May 14th to the school office.   Please make plans to join us on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 6:30pm. See attached flyer.

Daddy Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, May 17th.  Save the date on your calendar!

Be sure to turn in your RSVP form to the school office with your payment.  Parent volunteers are needed, see flyer enclosed in this week’s communication folder.  Please e-mail Sylvia Berens at Sylvia@apunix.com or call Sylvia at 858-602-6595 if you have any questions.

Recycling Program Update: Earth Day is every day!  At St. Peter’s, our recycling program has kept thousands of cans and bottles out of the local landfill, has saved a huge amount of energy, and has raise over $700 for school programs!  Please bring your CRV bottles and cans to school – drop them off at car line or outside the school office, and I will pick them up and bring them to the local recycling center.  Questions? Call Lisa Speer-Huet at 760-731-8965, or email at lspeerhuet@aol.com.  Thanks to all who have helped out this year already!

Red Sweater Alert: Please take a few minutes and check your child’s red sweater and backpacks to see if he/she accidentally picked up someone else’s sweater.  If you find one that doesn’t belong to your child, please turn it in to school office or to your child’s teacher.  Thank you!

2008-2009 Preschool Registration Packets: Please return the completed packet to the school office as soon as possible to ensure your child’s placement for next school year.

2008-2009 Elementary School Registration: Please return the completed packet to the office as soon as possible in order to assure placement for your child for next school year.
